Renewal Testing
- No testing is required for timely renewal of a Class 2 license. If a license expires on or after January 1, 2012, it cannot be renewed after the expiration date.The expiration date is on the front of the license. Licenses issued prior to July 1, 2011, are valid for three years. Licenses issued on or after July 1, 2011, are valid for five years.
- A Class 2 license may be upgraded to a Class 1 license upon successful completion of all Class 1 requirements.
- A Class 1 license may be renewed after successful completion of all class 1 testing requirements (including the proficiency test) within one year before submission to the BCI of a satisfactorily completed renewal application. Please bear in mind that the renewal application must be submitted to the law enforcement agency within 30 days of the testing date, but the application cannot be submitted to law enforcement earlier than 180 days prior to expiration.
